White Bra, 2006 recalls an incident from the past of the city, a mundane, insignificant one in the big scheme of what can be considered “history”, but a marking one in the life of the people who went through it.
This video performance was developed through improvisation in collaboration with Roba El Shamy and Khaled Zaki, two theatre actors.
The process began with hearsay relating to a certain incident that occured in the summer of 2000. Through numerous rehearsals that ended in the recording of the video, the pair filled in the gaps, with a fictive dramatic collage, that offers meaningful clues about life in Cairo, on the place of tradition, prevalent social norms, Police corruption among other things.
